Initial Setup
Complete the initial configuration of Templify to enable core features like template selection, autofill, and permission control.
Before you can start using Templify to manage and apply issue templates, there are a few quick configuration steps required. These ensure the app is properly initialized and all features work as expected in your Jira instance.
This setup is performed once by a Jira Administrator and typically takes just a few minutes.
🚀 What You’ll Configure
During the initial setup, you will:
Define a Global Template Repository (optional but recommended)
Create and assign the Issue Template field used in the Create Issue form
Set default templates for specific projects and issue types
Grant the appropriate global permission to your user groups
Each of these steps is covered in more detail on dedicated documentation pages — you’ll find links below the demo.
🧪 Interactive Demo
The interactive demo below will guide you through the entire initialization process step by step.
To begin setup:
Navigate to Jira Settings → Apps → Manage Apps Then find and select Templify in the left-hand sidebar under App settings
This will open the configuration interface where you’ll complete each part of the setup process.
💡 Tip: You can return to the Templify configuration panel at any time to adjust settings, update mappings, or review your setup.
📘 Where to Go Next?
Each stage of the setup is described in detail on its own documentation page:
🔹 Global Repository – Set up a shared template source
🔹 Issue Template Field – Enable the template picker in Create Issue
🔹 Permissions – Manage user access to Templify features
Make sure to complete each step to unlock the full potential of Templify.
✅ Best Practices
Perform the setup in a test project first if you’re unsure about field configurations
Use consistent naming (e.g. “Template Repository”) to keep things organized
Assign access only to the teams that need it — permission control is flexible
