Configure Team-Managed project

Learn how to manually configure the Issue Template field in next-gen (team-managed) projects to enable template selection.

Templify fully supports team-managed (next-gen) projects, but due to limitations in Jira Cloud, the automatic initialization of the Issue Template field is not available for these project types.

However, with a few manual steps, you can enable full functionality of Templify within any next-gen project.


🛠️ Manual Setup Instructions

To display and use the Issue Template field in your next-gen project, follow these steps:


1. Add the field manually

Go to:

Project settings → Fields → Add field → Choose “Issue Template”

This creates the required field in your next-gen project context.


2. Assign the field to the appropriate Work Types

For each issue type where you want the field to appear, do the following:

Project settings → Work types → Select work type → Drag the “Issue Template” field into the form layout

You can position it anywhere in the form according to your team's workflow preferences.


✅ What Happens Next?

Once the field is added and displayed:

  • Users will be able to select a template from the dropdown during issue creation

  • Templify will automatically fill in the form based on the selected template

  • The behavior is identical to that in company-managed projects


ℹ️ Note: This manual setup is required only once per project and work type.
